The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Janice Hess
Janice M. (Droesch) Hess, age 74, of Coldwater, died Tuesday, September 5th, 2023, at St Rita's Hospital in Lima. She was born January 6th, 1949, to the late Joseph & Leona (Rosenbeck) Droesch.
On April 23rd, 1969, she married Nick Hess; he survives along with their three sons: Neil (Marsha) Hess, Bill (Angie) Hess, and Joe (Gina) Hess, daughter-in-law Stacy Hess, and seven grandchildren: Nathan, Emily, Ashlee, Sophia, Peyton, Norah and Isla. Janice is also survived by her five siblings. She is preceded in death by her son Ted Hess, and her brother.
Janice worked at New Idea, Brodbeck's, and Chief's. She enjoyed participating in book clubs and dining with Nick at many local restaurants. She was a lifetime member of the Coldwater VFW Auxiliary.
Friends and family may call from 9:00am - 12:00pm on Thursday, September 14, at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater. Burial will take place in the St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Coldwater. Condolences for the family may be expressed at hogenkampfh.com.
