* IMPACTS...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

Gusty southwest winds will become westerly this afternoon. The strong winds and the recently fallen snow is resulting in some blowing and drifting snow, especially across rural and open areas. This may result in rapid changes in road conditions over short distances. Motorists should exercise extra caution.

Alice Puthoff
Alice Jean Puthoff, age 80 of Maria Stein, Ohio, died at 3:23 AM on Friday, September 22, 2023.
She was born on November 27, 1942 in Maria Stein, Ohio to the late Cornelius & Amelia (Heitkamp) Goecke. She married Merinus Puthoff on April 20, 1963 in Maria Stein, Ohio. He preceded her in death on May 3, 2016.
She is survived by 5 children, Retired Colonel Frederick A. & Hyesuk Puthoff, Manassas, VA, Mark & Theresa Puthoff, Coldwater, Thomas & Rhonda Puthoff, Maria Stein, Ann & Douglas Horvath, Brookville, Jill & Doyle Hicks, Lewis Center, 10 grandchildren: Christine, Amanda & Trevor Wenning, Victoria & Jon Schnieder, Madison & fiancé Cruz Stepp, Mitchell & Lisa Opperman, Caitlin, Jared, Casey Ann & Sierra, and Landon, 5 great grandchildren: Hudson, Colton, Emma, Willow & Mary, brothers & sisters: James & Marge Goecke, Brownsburg, IN, Daniel & Shirley Goecke, Centerville, Linda & late John Rabold, partner Keith Knox, Centerville.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Maria Stein and St. Ann's Lady's Sodality of the Church. She was a member of various card clubs, a lucky and avid BINGO player and loved crocheting personal bear blankets for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed going to Lake Erie and perch fishing with her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Maria Stein with burial to follow in St. John Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster on Tuesday September 26, 2023 from 4-7 PM and on Wednesday, September 27 from 9 -10 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kobacker House, 800 McConnell Dr. Columbus, https://foundation.ohiohealth.com/programs/hospice-giving or have a tree planted in memory of Alice through the funeral home website.
