Gerald Bertke
Gerald "Jerry" L. Bertke, 82, of St. Joe, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at the Celina Manor in Celina, Ohio.
He was born on January 2, 1941, in St. Peter, Ohio, to the late Walter and Leona (Miller) Bertke.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Kahlig) Bertke, whom he married on April 18, 1970, and who passed away on September 15, 2005; his siblings, Leroy (Georgia) Bertke, Shirley (James) Maier, and Walter "Wally" Bertke; his sister-in-law, Kathi Bertke; his brother-in-law, Ernest Homan; and his In-Laws, Jim Bodiker, Karen Kahlig, and Sharon Kahlig.
Jerry is survived by his daughters, Tammy (Eric) Hogan of Coldwater, Diana (Wes) Hardin of Huber Heights, and Sara (Ed) Gilbert of Celina; his grandchildren, Rodd (Cynthia) Voisard of Philothea, Austin Monroe of Coldwater, Devin Voisard of St. Anthony, Dylan (Makenzie) Gilbert of Van Wert, and Haylee Gilbert of Celina; his siblings, Louis Bertke of Tremont, Illinois, Judith Homan of Fort Recovery, and Mel (Karen) Bertke of St. Joe; and his In-Laws, Janice (Ken) Speck of St. Henry, Phyllis Bodiker of Texas, and Jerry Kahlig and Kathi Lewis of Montezuma.
Jerry attended St. Henry High School. He worked for various factories throughout the years and retired from FCC in Portland. Jerry was a member of the Coldwater VFW and enjoyed collecting model cars. Many knew Jerry for his love of playing scratch-off tickets.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, December 11, 2023, at St. Joe Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Guests may visit with Jerry's family on Sunday, December 10, 2023, from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM and again on Monday from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at Brockman Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
