Visitors tour the new Mercer Health Medical Group at Maria Stein on Monday evening.

MARIA STEIN - Officials unveiled the new Mercer Health Medical Group at Maria Stein and served patients for the first time on Monday.

Located in the Marion Industrial Park at 8016 Booster Drive, the 19,000-square-foot medical office building brings primary care, occupational health and wellness, obstetrics (OB)/ gynecology (GYN) and laboratory services together under one roof.

The new facility houses the office of primary care providers Dr. Heather Kleinhenz, certified nurse practitioner Jennifer Luthman, certified nurse practitioner Jodi Grover and Dr. Brian Colopy.

The practitioners will provide preventative care, which includes wellness visits, routine screenings, sports physicals, sick visits and management of chronic conditions.

Kleinhenz, Luthman and Grover will offer occupational health services such as employment physicals, drug and alcohol testing and injury management.

The new Mercer Health Medical Group at Maria Stein offers a variety of services.

The new office will also provide OB/GYN and women's health services. Dr. Eric Seward, women's health nurse practitioner Lori Geesaman and certified nurse midwife Jessica Bergman will see patients on select dates.

OB services include reproductive health, pregnancy and postpartum care. GYN and women's health services include screenings such as pap smears, urinary tract issues, menstruation concerns, breast health and hysterectomy and hysteroscopy, which are completed at Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater.

Additionally, a new laboratory is now in service, offering walk-in appointments from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m.-6 p.m. on Fridays and 8 a.m.-noon on Saturdays. Labs can be drawn regardless of where the labs were ordered from, and labs ordered by Marion campus providers can be drawn on the same day as long as fasting requirements are met.

The new facility features floor-to-ceiling windows and a view of green space behind the building on Booster Drive.

The project was originally estimated at $9.4 million but was completed under budget.

Kleinhenz said she saw about 20 patients on Monday and was proud to serve the area.

"I'm honored, absolutely honored to be able to practice in such a beautiful facility," she said. "I'm just really excited for this opportunity and for the community to have this type of facility here, and I'm just excited for the future."

Mercer Health Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer Jon Dingledine highlighted that Mercer Health worked with several local contractors and subcontractors for the project.

"The teams we had out here are phenomenal, from the architect, Weigandt (Development) the general contractor, all the subs, we had a lot of subs which was nice," he said. "We had so many community members play a huge part, from the MCDO (Marion Community Development Organization) telling us, 'Hey, we have one more lot open if you guys are interested in ever coming out this way,' to simple things like Phil Moeller letting us put all the excess dirt and equipment on his lot … It was fun, but it's awesome that it's open and hopefully it serves the community for a long, long time."
