Gusty southwest winds will become westerly this afternoon. The strong winds and the recently fallen snow is resulting in some blowing and drifting snow, especially across rural and open areas. This may result in rapid changes in road conditions over short distances. Motorists should exercise extra caution.

Eileen Poeppelman
Eileen E. Poeppelman, age 96, of Minster, died a happy death and went to the Lord on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born December 4, 1927 in Liberty Twp, Mercer County to the late Paul & Margaret (Stelzer) Bornhorst. On April 30, 1949 she married Lester Poeppelman in St. Joseph Church, Egypt, Ohio and he preceded her in death on October 27, 2018.
She is survived by her children, Barbara & Steve Grimm, Patricia & Dennis McGowan, Nicholas Poeppelman, Thomas Poeppelman, and James Poeppelman all of Minster; grandchildren, Jessica & Jay Bigalke, Michael & Grace McGowan, David & Lauren McGowan, Dylan Poeppelman, Jacob Poeppelman & Mandi, Noah & Colleen Poeppelman, great-grandchildren, Gavin Bigalke, Levi Bigalke, Mia McGowan, Myles McGowan; brother: Jerry & Charlene Bornhorst of Kerrville, TX, in-laws: sister-in-law Edna Wise of Minster.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Paul & Margaret Bornhorst, siblings: Maurice & Viola Bornhorst, Charles & Josephine Bornhorst, Anna & Lavern Gross in-laws; Bernadine & Tom Froning, Ruth & Albert Hoelscher, Esther & Conrad Hoelscher, Alvin & Martha Poeppelman, and Clifford Wise; step siblings, Dorothy & Urban Gaier, Margaret & Aloys Hoelscher, Hilda & Clarence Siegel, and Jenny & Carl Voisard.
She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, and St. Monica's Ladies Sodality. She was a graduate of Ft. Recovery High School a former secretary and bookkeeper and in her later life she worked at Wagner's IGA, Sherman's Drugstore and volunteered at Piqua Neurological Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9:30 am Saturday, January 13, 2024 at St. Augustine Church. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, January 12, and 8:30 to 9:00 am Saturday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Minster Jackson Twp. Fire Dept. & Minster Area Life Squad.
