St. Marys' Kayla Homan, seated center, will attend Muskingum University and bowl for the Muskies. Seated with Kayla are her parents Aubrey and Jason Homan. Standing are St. Marys assistant coach Karl Dammeyer and head coach Jay Gibson.

ST. MARYS - Kayla Homan has been key to the success of the St. Marys' girls bowling team.

Now, the Roughrider senior will get the chance to continue her education and bowling career at Muskingum University.

"I fell in love with the college since I toured," said Homan, who will major in nursing. "I made a couple of visits. I love the coach and the team already. Just felt like the perfect match."

The Muskies bowling team, coach by Doug Smith, wraps up the regular season on Saturday at the Ohio Bowling Conference event in Columbus. Muskingum has had two first-place finishes during the season.

Homan was a first-team All-Western Buckeye League selection in helping St. Marys split the overall league title with Wapakoneta last season. The Roughriders qualified for the Division II state tournament and earned a spot in the eight-team championship bracket, losing in the quarterfinals to eventual state champion Conotton Valley.

This season, St. Marys ran the table in regular season Western Buckeye League action, then won the league tournament this past weekend to repeat.

Homan came up big in the tournament, bowling a 636 series for individual medalist honors. She earned second team All-WBL honors as the Roughriders get ready for postseason play this weekend.

"It feels so good to get my answer (about college) solved. It's stressful," said Homan. "I'm super excited now that I have made my decision."
