EMS makes progress in volunteers

  COLDWATER - Mercer County Emergency Medical Services' Coldwater branch is making headway in the recruitment department, signing up roughly 10 volunteers to undergo training and serve for at least two years.
Though the branch could still use about a dozen more abled-bodied men and women, the recent recruitment surge is a positive sign amid an areawide struggle to attract and retain volunteers. [More]

Crews begin fog seal work
CELINA - Mercer County Engineer's Office crews began fog seal work on various rural roads in the county this week.

Scott Bloomquist, a dirt track race car driver who was known for his bravado and for being one of the sport's best, died Friday in a plane crash on his family's farm in Mooresburg, Tennessee, friends and local officials said.
