Kenneth Stein
Kenneth "Kenny" E. Stein, age 88, of Mendon, Ohio, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 18, 2024, at Van Wert Hospital.
Born on June 30, 1936, in Celina, he was the son of the late Ernest and Mary (Stoltz) Stein. Kenny was a devoted husband to Janet M. (Schmidt) Stein, whom he married on October 27, 1957, and who survives him.
Kenny is also survived by his cherished children: Penny (Michael) Miller of Farmersville, Ohio; Randy (Kris) Stein of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Tammy (Terry) Taylor of Toledo, Ohio; and Rebecca Bowsher of Spencerville, Ohio. He is remembered fondly by his brother and sister-in-law, Dale (Helen) Stein of San Antonio, Texas, as well as by eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers: Wilbur, Jerome, Paul, Eugene, and Gerald Stein; and a sister, Phyllis Rasawuhr.
Kenny was a respected entrepreneur, owning and operating Modern Plumbing and Heating in Mendon. After 33 years of dedicated service as a pipe fitter at Goodyear Tire and Rubber, he enjoyed retirement by working at VanTilburg Farms for several years.
A faithful member of Mt. Tabor Church of God in Celina, Kenny was actively involved in The Gideons, Habitat for Humanity, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Additionally, he had a profound love for the people of Haiti and made many missionary trips there, often accompanied by his daughter, Penny.
His passions included camping, hiking, hunting, and restoring antique Cletrac tractors. Above all, Kenny was a devoted family man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Kenny often said, "If I was any better, I'd be in Heaven," and his family takes comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in that very place.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Mt. Tabor Church of God, located at 9744 US-127, Celina, Ohio 45822. The family will welcome friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the service at the church.
