Vera (Bey) Schmidt, age 86, of Coldwater, died on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Briarwood Village in Coldwater.

She was born November 19, 1937, in Frenchtown to the late Lloyd & Frances (Eck) Bey. On July 7, 1956, she married Charles A. Schmidt, and he died in 2019.

Vera is survived by children, Linda & Adrian Wenning of Celina, Diana & Michael Entrup of Philothea, Darlene Stewart & Steve Plumb of Lima, and Ronald & Vicki Schmidt of Celina. She also survived by grandchildren, Ben & Katie Wenning, Derek & Amy Wenning, Brittany & Adam Jardy, Nick Schmidt, Joe & Cassie Schmidt, Blake Schmidt & friend, Ashley & Brock Dubry, and Brandon Dellinger & friend; 11 great-grandchildren, as well as siblings and in-laws, Helen & Doyle Layne of Troy, Ivo & Rosie Schmidt of Coldwater, Virgil Schmidt of Chickasaw, Eileen Eckstein of Greenville, Paul & Janet Schmidt of Milford, and Urban & Sandy Schmidt of Milford.

She is preceded in death by a grandchild, Tyler Dellinger; son-in-law Greg Stewart; siblings and in-laws, Virginia & Elmer Walterbusch, Clem Eckstein, Velma Schmidt, Jean Schluter, Ed & Betty Buzard, John & Janet Bey, Roger & Marie Bey, Dolores Bey, and Judy & Wayne Homan.

Vera was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater, St. Ann Ladies Sodality of the church. She worked at the former Buckeye plant in Coldwater and Briarwood Manor. Vera enjoyed bus trips and playing bingo with her husband. The family would like to thank all the staff at Briarwood village for their kindness and care.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater.

Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater. Friends may call on Thursday October 17, from 4 to 7 PM and on Friday from 9 to 10 AM at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
