Ruth King
Ruth Elaine King, age 87, of Centerville, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024 at Bethany Lutheran Village.
She was born in Fort Recovery, Ohio, on February 15, 1937, the daughter of Carl and Ann (Nieberding) King.
Ruth was a graduate of St. Henry High School and later University of Dayton, finally obtaining her Master's in Education from Michigan State University. Ruth worked as a reading specialist in various schools over the course of her career, retiring from the Lansing Public School District after more than thirty years of service to the school and children. Some of her proudest accomplishments were in her early years of teaching, having the opportunity to teach underprivileged children in Chicago and at Rocky Boy Reservation in Montana.
During her time in Fort Recovery, Ruth was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and later became a faithful member of the Washington Heights Baptist Church in Centerville.
In her free time, Ruth enjoyed traveling not just the United States, but countries around the world with her family, especially her nieces and nephews who she treated like her own children, along with tracing her family's genealogy all the way back to her roots in Germany.
Ruth leaves behind her siblings, Ron (Connie) King and Dennis (Carrie) King; beloved nieces and nephews, Dan (Cindy) Obringer, Mark (Annette) Obringer, Paul (Mindy) Obringer, Anne (Phil) Thobe, Jane (Vaughn) Hipple, Sarah (Doug) Jansen, Deb (Fred) Goettemoeller, Terri (Mike) Bohman, Chris (Evelyn) King, Bryan (Beth) Price, Susan Price, Charlotte (Cory) Doshier, Aaron (Kristen) King, Ashley (Travis) Clem Roger (Charlotte) King and Dave Rudemiller.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her siblings, Carolyn (Jerry) King, Jim (Jackie) King and Janet (James) Price; nieces and nephews, Mary Rudemiller, Jim Obringer and Alan King.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 10:30 to 11:30am in the Washington Heights Baptist Church, 5650 Far Hills Ave, Dayton.
