Ruth Wagner Schieltz
Ruth C. Wagner Schieltz age 98 formerly of Versailles and Currently of Greenville, Ohio died on Sunday morning December 1, 2024.
Ruth was born in Celina, Ohio to Henry and Hildegard (May) Wagner.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Schieltz, whom she married at Holy Family Catholic Church in Frenchtown, Ohio on July 29, 1950. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Rita and Wilfred Timmerman, John and Pat Wagner (Borchers), and Werner and Marilou Wagner. Ruth was also preceded in death by brother-in-laws, Vitalis, Henry, Herman, Raymond, Leo, Robert, and Thomas Schieltz and sisters-in-law, Cora Boyer and Sister Esther Schieltz, C.P.P.S.
Ruth is survived by her children, Mark and Rosann Schieltz, Regina Schieltz, Kevin Schieltz, all of Greenville, Ohio and Brice and Dyann Schieltz of Bloomington, Illinois. Her grandchildren, Stephanie Schieltz-Lowder and husband Austin Lowder, Katherine Schieltz, and Alex Schieltz. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Ruth attended college at Siena Heights College in Adrian, Michigan and Miami University. Ruth was a teacher in New Knoxville, St. Henry, Russia, and Versailles. She was the first Catholic to teach in New Knoxville City Schools and the first elementary guidance counselor in Darke County.
Ruth did the research (with help from her sister Rita and Daughter Regina) and put together five family history books. The books are May-Homan Family History, The Diller-Biggs Family History, The Berge, Berger, Barga, Barge Family History, The Schieltz Family History, and The Rinehart Family History.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday December 6, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St. Denis Catholic Church, 14 East Wood Street, Versailles, Ohio with Rev. Fr. Ned Brown Celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday December 5, 2024 and from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Friday at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to EverHeart Hospice or Darke County Right to Life.
