Mildred Henne
Mildred Joan Henne, 95, of St. Marys, OH died at 7:00 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2025, at Otterbein - St. Marys.
She was born February 9, 1929, in St. Marys, OH to Carl and Oma Jane (Long) Henne.
Survivors include: daughter Jane (Dave) Meinerding of St. Marys, OH; son John (Jamie) Henne of Fairborn, OH; 3 grandchildren: Christine Jones, Emily (Brian) Wise, Sara Storer; 8 great-grandchildren: Tyler Wise, Jaden Heitkamp, Aaron Wise, Tristin Storer, Brayden Storer, Madison Storer, Wesley Jones, Carl Jones; 1 great-great granddaughter Alaya Wise; and caregiver and personal assistant Paula Vanover.
Preceded in death by: parents Lt. Col. Carl and Oma Jane Henne; sister Ruth Harner, brother Charles Henne, sister Evelyn Reece, brother Robert Henne, brother Carl Henne, Jr.
A lifelong St. Marys resident, Joan graduated from high school in Hattiesburg, MS, while her father was stationed nearby at Camp Shelby with the Army.
Joan worked for many years as a keypunch operator and, later, an accounting clerk in the office of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.
An avid reader, she especially enjoyed mysteries and adventure stories. Joan enjoyed traveling, visiting Paris, family vacation road trips, taking a cruise, visiting a Mexican resort, and visiting her brother Carl on his sailboat in the Virgin Islands.
Rites are scheduled to begin at 12:00 noon on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the Miller - Long & Folk Funeral Home 314 W. High Street in St. Marys. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Visitation 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Auglaize Co. Historical Society.
