Ronald Fortkamp
Ronald L. "Herbie" Fortkamp, age 66 of St. Rose, Ohio, died Thursday evening February 27, 2025, at EverHeart Hospice Care Center in Greenville. Herbie was born August 25, 1958, in Coldwater to the late Leander & Rita (Bernard) Fortkamp. Herbie married his wife of 32 years, Treva (Griesdorn) Fortkamp, on August 15, 1992. Treva survives at their home in St. Rose.
Herbie is also survived by favorite daughter, Tegan and her husband Jason Will, and their daughters Hadley, Kinsley, and a baby on the way. Other surviving family members include siblings and in-laws: Barb & Larry Poppe of McCartyville, Marcia & Ben Tebbe of Maria Stein, Ed Grieshop of Anna, Marilyn Fortkamp of Minster, Linda Fortkamp of New Bremen, Thelma Fortkamp of St. Henry, Jeffrey "China" & Rita Griesdorn of St. Rose, and Craig & Diane Griesdorn of New Bremen, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Herbie is preceded in death by his sister Josephine Grieshop, an infant sister Mary, three brothers Lee, Ralph, and Walter "Doc" Fortkamp, and his father and mother-in-law, Cletus & Marguerite Griesdorn.
Herbie was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in St. Rose, Ohio.  He was a dedicated truck driver and loved being out on the road. He drove both long and short haul trips. Over the years he drove for several different trucking companies including Frank Bomholt & Sons, Tuente Trucking, Tim Jacobs, Precision Strip, Everman Brothers, Winner's Trucking, Moeller Trucking, and most recently Brookside Trucking. He also was the owner and operator of R.L. Fortkamp Trucking. Herbie was a man of the road and knew every mile marker on I-75 and remembered many of his different delivery stops throughout his years of driving. Herbie enjoyed collecting and working with his Oliver tractors and participating in plowing competitions. While Herbie was happy on the road, he was also happy when he was at home and especially enjoyed when friends and family came for a visit and to share a drink.

Friends and relation may call from 2-7pm on Monday, March 3, or from 9-10am on Tuesday, March 4, at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry. The family invites all who wish to pay their respects to dress casually as that's how Herbie would want them to be.
