Election '25

Dublin Township trustee candidates

By Erin Gardner
DUBLIN TOWNSHIP - Incumbent township trustees Tim Metz and Bart Walls are being challenged by Loren Shindeldecker for two open trustee seats in the Nov. 4 general election.

Tim Metz
Metz, 52, has been a Dublin Township trustee for three terms.
Having a high school education from Parkway High School, he is a press operator at Reynolds and Reynolds. He and his wife have two sons and one grandchild.
He is running again because he wants to help his community.
If reelected, the biggest policy he would pursue is continuing work on roadways.
"They're getting torn up all the time and the price of redoing them is just astronomical anymore, so we've got to pick and choose what we want to do and can and can't do based on our funding," he said.
Metz said he aims to serve the people and is open to any feedback.

Loren Shindeldecker
Shindeldecker, 63, is recently retired after 41 years in the information technology field. He and his wife have two kids and 6 grandkids.
He majored in programming and systems analysis at Northwestern Business College - Technical Center in Lima, now known as the University of Northwestern Ohio. He has not held public office, although he has run for a seat on the Parkway Board of Education and a seat as a township trustee in 2023.
Shindeldecker said he's running because he wants to give back and serve the community.
"It's a way I can give back to the community." he said. "I'm a lifelong resident. I'm a member of the Lions Club, a service organization, and I'm on the church mission team. This is just another way to give back to the community. I may have a different perspective, not that anything is wrong."
If elected, Shindeldecker said he wants to keep an eye on any financial challenges the township may face.
He said he would be "financially responsible with the tightening budgets and the funding that townships reply on, getting it from the state and local dollars, and trying to spend that as judiciously as possible," he said. "Not that I think there's anything wrong, I just think that every government entity has that challenge."
He also said he would maintain the roadways and cemeteries.

Bart Walls
Walls, 61, has been a Dublin Township trustee since 2010. This will be his fourth term.
He has a high school education, is a farmer and works in construction.
He is running again because he wants to serve his community.
"(I want to) look out for the people of the township. The main thing is to keep the roads in decent shape and the cemeteries looking good."
