Esther Wells
Esther LaVerne (Reier) Wells, age 81, formerly of Pike Street, Anna, passed away peacefully of natural causes late Monday morning, June 8, 2026, at Elmwood Assisted Living in New Bremen, Ohio.
She was born April 2, 1945, in Celina, Ohio, to the late LeRoy & Susan (Casperson) Reier. On June 26, 1995, Esther married Jack Wells who preceded her in death on April 18, 2018.
Esther is survived by six siblings: Mary Thobe of Sidney, Betty Partington of Sidney, Barbara & Virgil Frantz of Versailles, Florence & Mark Boeckman of Atlanta, GA, Henry & Carol Reier of Celina and Helen & Carl Magoto of Anna; sisters & brothers-in-law: & Ruth Reier of Upper Sandusky, Linda Reier of Sidney and Dale Meyer of St. Marys along with numerous nieces & nephews including her beloved niece, Jackie Mumaw of Minster.
She was preceded in death by seven siblings: Nick Reier, Nancy Werling, Ruth & Tom Schwenzer, George Reier, Shirley Meyer and infants, Martha and Dorothy Reier as well as brothers & sisters -in-law: Herman Thobe, Julia Reier and Richard "Pete" Partington.
Mrs. Wells was retired from The Dannon Company in Minster. She had also been a cook and bar tender at Patrick's Pub & Grill in McCartyville. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, the Minster Eagles Auxiliary, Fort Loramie American Legion Auxiliary and the Sisters of the Eastern Star. Esther was a people person and loved socializing. She especially enjoyed her eight years with the residents and the staff at Elmwood. It has been said that to know her is to love her.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in McCartyville with Fr. Stephen Mondiek presiding.
Family and friends may call Thursday, 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM in the church gathering room.
Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Church or Grand Lake Hospice.
