(Brookhart) Leistner, age 71, of Celina, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. She was born on November 10, 1954, in Celina, to the late Leon Brookhart and Marceita (Edmiston) Brookhart, who survives in Celina.
Valerie is survived by her daughters, Sara (Ben) Laux and Ashley (Chris) Balogna, both of Celina; her beloved grandchildren, Trinity (Nathan) Boroff of Mendon, Gracy Laux, and Zeke Laux, both of Celina; and her brother, Luke (Monica) Brookhart of North Star.
Valerie was a 1973 graduate of Celina High School. On April 24, 1976, she married Randy Leistner, and together they built a life centered around family, love, and many cherished memories. Randy preceded her in death on March 27, 2026. Valerie worked for many years at Huffy Corporation in Celina before becoming a mother and homemaker. She took great pride in caring for others and was always there to make sure her family and those around her were loved and cared for.
She had a special gift for making people feel welcome and enjoyed being a hostess, whether it was gathering family together or simply offering a drink and a snack to those who stopped by. Valerie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who brought her great joy. She enjoyed gardening, caring for her flowers, crafting, and decorating her home for every holiday. She especially loved Christmas and celebrating her love for America. Her creativity, warm heart, and attention to detail could be seen throughout her home and in the memories she created with those she loved.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Kessler Cemetery in Chattanooga, Ohio, with Tom Burtch officiating.
