Longtime volunteer and rabbit inspector Dan Roebuck checks each rabbit for signs of sickness or disease, examining its eyes, ears, nose, feet and tail. Each rabbit's breed and sex were also noted, rabbit program superintendent Rachel Penno pointed out.
Exhibitors planning to take part in the rabbit program at the 2026 Mercer County Fair brought their rabbits to the Mercer County Fairgrounds on Tuesday evening for a health inspection. The fair runs Aug. 13-19. The rabbits were also each given a tattoo in one of their ears. The tattoo consists of an identifying number and is a standard fair practice.
