Eloise Carpenter
Eloise E. Carpenter, 96, of Saint Marys died 12:05 A.M. Saturday, August 22, 2026, at her daughter's residence. She was born March 4, 1930, in Decatur, Indiana, the daughter of Levi and Florine (Neukom) Egley. She married Norman Carpenter on January 2, 1950, and he preceded her in death on January 19, 1987.
She is survived by her children: Randy (Kay) Carpenter of McClure, Ohio; Tim (Wanda) Carpenter of Saint Marys; Kim (Larry) Carpenter of Saint Marys.
She is also survived by 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and by one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman; by her children Bill Carpenter; Kay Wurster and Jack Carpenter.
Eloise supported her husband, Norman, with Carpenter Bros. Amusement Rides, and also with driving grain wagons to the elevator during harvest season. She managed Paradise Trailer Court, and owned and operated Woodland Rollerdome for 23 years, where most of the community's children knew her as "Grandma". Eloise enjoyed her time at the skating rink investing in the kids that came through the door.
Eloise also enjoyed spending time with her family. She spent many hours taking pictures and making photo albums, crocheting afghans, quilting, and playing the piano for residents at many nursing homes in the area. She was very involved in her church, teaching Sunday School to little children, helping with funeral meals and with the Women's Ministry. Eloise loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Funeral rites will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys, Ohio, Pastor Larry McCollum, officiant.
Friends may call from noon until 2:00 on Wednesday at the funeral home.
