The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Virgil Hirschfeld
Virgil Hirschfeld, 93, formerly of 403 W. Monroe St., New Bremen, died at 6:30 p.m. May 22, 2009, at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community.
He was born Jan. 6, 1916, in New Bremen, to Oscar A. and Alvera Quellhorst Hirschfeld. On June 12, 1938, he married Fern Mallory, who survives at Otterbein.
Also surviving are sons, Lynn (Inga) Hirschfeld, Sun City, Fla., and Kevin (Kathy) Hirschfeld, Bordentown, N.J.; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister, Laverta Westbay.
A member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen, he was a 1934 graduate of New Bremen High School. He owned and operated The Little Store grocery in New Bremen during the 1950s and later worked at Dickman Supply until he retired in 1986.
Service is 2 p.m. Thursday at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, the Rev. Michael Westbay officiating. Burial will follow in Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the State of the Heart Hospice.
