The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Velma Meyer
Velma C. Meyer, 95, formerly of Minster, died Feb. 22, 2011, at Dorothy Love Retirement Community in Sidney.
She was born March 11, 1915, in Maria Stein to Emil and Mary Mescher Garman. On Oct. 30, 1939, she married Raymond A. Meyer, who died Nov. 29, 1988.
Surviving are two sons, William (Marlene) Meyer, Minster, and Gary (Madonna) Meyer, Sidney; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Also deceased are 14 siblings, infant Anne, Gust, Ed, Lawrence, and Al Garman, Flora Lochtefeld, Rosa Barhorst, Mary Clark, Ida Emma Coffeld, Josephine Rammel, Bertha Shepard, Alvina Gerling, Marcella Sherman and Frances Vagedas.
She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Minster. She was also a member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia and the Minster Fraternal Order of Eagles 1391 Auxiliary.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 4-7 p.m. Thursday and 9-9:30 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster.
