The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Ruth Gerlach
Ruth C. Gerlach, 87, Fort Recovery, died at 10:50 a.m. Feb. 24, 2011, at Briarwood Village in Coldwater.
She was born Aug. 28, 1923, in Cranberry to Bernard and Julia Fiely Meiring. On Sept. 1, 1945, she married, Wilbert Gerlach, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Kathy (Don) Hart, Beavercreek, and Julie (Steve) Bruns, Conover; four sons, Ken (Dianne) Gerlach, Naperville, Ill., Jim (Anne) Gerlach, Westminster, Colo., Gary Gerlach, Columbus, and Tom (Diane) Gerlach, Derby, Kan.; two sisters, Verena (Tom) Humenny, Sacremento, Calif., and Esther Hoffpauir, Carthagena; two brothers, Joe Meiring, Carthagena, and Daniel (Pat) Meiring, Centerville; a brother-in-law, Bernard Wahrer, Kettering; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a grandson; a sister, Lillian Wahrer; three brothers, Rev. Arnold Meiring, William Meiring and Rev. Bernard Meiring.
She was a graduate of Fort Recovery High School. She was a member of the Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Fort Recovery.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial is at St. Marys Cemetery in Fort Recovery.
Calling is 2-6 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home in Fort Recovery.
