The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Joan Brandewie
Joan R. Brandewie, 74, North Star, died 2:55 p.m. Feb. 24, 2011, at Mercer County Community Hospital in Coldwater.
She was born Dec. 28, 1936, in Chickasaw to Elmer and Hilda Kremer Bohman. On May 21, 1960, she married Jerry Brandewie, who survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Jayne (Tony) Frilling, Columbus, Joyce Huber, North Star, June Brandewie, St. Marys and Jill Brandewie, Columbus; seven siblings, Melvin (Ann) Kremer, St. Henry, Bernice (Bob) Goettemoeller, Columbus, Roger (Barb) Kremer, Carthagena, Margie (Stan) Lefeld, Coldwater, Dennis (Sue) Kremer, Troy, Gary (Helen) Kremer, Chickasaw, and Roy (Jane) Kremer, Coldwater; a sister-in-law, Clara Jean (Fred) Hein, Chickasaw; and five grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Edgar Kremer.
She was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church in North Star. She was also a member of St. Ann's Rosary Altar Sodality, the church choir, Maria Stein Knights of St. John Auxiliary and the North Star American Legion Auxiliary. She was a homemaker and a wedding and banquet cook for 45 years.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. David Zink officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 1-7 p.m. Sunday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater and 9-10 a.m. Monday at the church.
