Rev. Charles B. Rohrkemper
The Rev. Charles B. Rohrkemper, 95, died May 31, 2012, at St. Charles Center in Carthagena.
He was born March 21, 1917, in Dayton, to Albert and Helen Rohrkemper.
Surviving are seven nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three sisters, Mary Shultz, Sister Alberta Rohrkemper and Cecelia Benezra.
He was a graduate of Chaminade High School, Dayton, and completed seminary studies at St. Gregory and Mt. St. Mary. He was ordained for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati in 1943 by Archbishop John T. McNicholas.
He served as assistant pastor at St. William, Cincinnati; St. Augustine, Cincinnati; and St. Vivian, Cincinnati. During this time he taught at Elder High School, Cincinnati, and Julienne High School, Dayton. In 1956 he was named chaplain to the sisters of Notre Dame at Villa Julienne, Dayton.
He served as pastor at St. John Fisher, Cincinnati; St. Francis de Sales, Lebanon; St. Boniface, Piqua; St. Mary, Greenville; and Sacred Heard, McCartyville, where he served until his retirement in 1987.
After retirement, he celebrated Mass at St. Patrick, Troy; Lehman High School, Sidney; and several other parishes and nursing homes.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick church in Troy, the Archbishop Dennis Schnurr officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Dayton.
Calling is 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Friday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the St. Charles Nursing Center.
