Dorothy Barber
Dorothy Mae Barber, 95, Mendon, died Sept. 7, 2012, at Colonial Nursing Home, Rockford.
She was born Jan. 23, 1917, in Mercer County, to Cecil and Stella Shanklin Yewey. On Oct. 16, 1943, she married J. Vernon Barber, who died Dec. 20, 2007.
Surviving are three daughters, Shirley (Steve) Bell, Celina, Marilyn (James) Dwenger, Celina, and Joanne (Dan) Lampert, Anna; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Also deceased are a brother, Merle Yewey; and three sisters, E. Ferne Clay, Hazel Yewey and Thelma Betz.
She graduated as valedictorian of Neptune High School in 1934. She taught Sunday school and was the pianist at New Horizon Church, where she attended.
Funeral services are 3 p.m. Tuesday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Marvin Schwartz officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery, Mendon.
Calling is 1-3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
