Doris Schafer
Doris Ann Schafer, 83, Russia, died Oct. 1, 2012, at Versailles Health Care Center.
She was born May 24, 1929, in St. Anthony, to Edward and Rosella Uhlman Muhlenkamp. On May 28, 1949, she married Jerome "Jerry" Schafer, who died March 29, 2006.
Surviving are four sons, Michael (Ola) Schafer, Russia, Neal (Dotti) Schafer, Russia, Jeffrey (Cheryl) Schafer, Russia, and Daniel (Toni) Schafer, Houston; 11 siblings, Don (Dorothy) Muhlenkamp, Fort Recovery, Vera (Don) Alig, Portland, Ind., Thelma (Dave) Barga, North Star, Mary Jane (Carl) Obringer, Fort Recovery, Marge Paulus, Celina, Kenneth Muhlenkamp, Fort Recovery, Ruth (John) Harding, Sarasota, Fla., Ginny (Pat) McClure, Versailles, Dave (Marcia) Muhlenkamp, Fort Recovery, Connie Andrus, Dubland, and Judy (Jerry) Schulze, Celina; siblings-in-law, Dorothy (Romie) Buehler, McCartyville, Virginia Brandewie, Minster, Esther Schafer, Fort Loramie, Marty Schafer, Fort Loramie, and Jack Siler, Pleasant Hill; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Also deceased are an infant sister and siblings-in-law, Jim Paulus, Carol Muhlenkamp and Tom Andrus.
She was a homemaker and attended St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia, where she was active with its St. Anne's Ladies Sodality.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Frank Amberger presiding. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-9:45 a.m. Friday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie.
Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor's choice.
