Rockford village workers on Monday began demolition of two buildings next to the fire department on Main Street. The village paid $29,500 of the $55,000 project with the remainder covered by a $25,500 Community Development Block Grant. The cleared space initially will be used as a gravel parking lot for area businesses and may be considered for future development.
