Betsy Armstrong
Betsy Ellen Armstrong, age 60, of Mendon, passed away at her home on Tuesday, October 13, 2020.
Betsy - Born Feb. 25, 1960 to Thomas and Barbara Fox Armstrong at Gibbons Hospital, Celina - Grandparents were George and Mildred (Ditto) Armstrong, Mendon and Peter and Hazel (Stewart) Fox, Rockford. Her father is deceased and her mother survives.
She was welcomed home by sisters: Nancy Armstrong (Jim) Painter and Vicky Armstrong and a brother, Mark (Robyn Hagar) Armstrong, who survive. Also surviving are nieces and nephews: Kris Painter (Kevin) Jacobs and their children, Drew, Allison and Chase Jacobs, Jimmy (Cassi) Painter and children, Amairi and Dylan, Jaime Armstrong and daughter, Ady, and Beth Armstrong (Matt) Overman and their children, Patrick, Charlie, Markus and Evelyn.
She attended Mendon-Union School (Class of 1978), attended Wright State University and someplace in Florida to earn 2 master's degrees in education and counseling.
Betsy spent her first job working 17 years at Citizens Commercial Bank in Celina. Then she taught at St. Henry High School. Later she took the Guidance Counselor position for the high school for a total career of 22 years there at St. Henry. Loved the people there and planned to retire in 4 years.
Her first love was for the church and youth of any kind, shape or size! She was the Youth Leader for 35 years at the Mendon Methodist Church. Still cooking for the youth meals and helping make money for the youth to go to Lakeside yearly.
She held many offices at the church! (Church Treasurer and Lay Leader, Teacher) Just whatever it took to help keep it running smoothly. Always smiling and ready with a joke!
She loved to make chocolate chip cookies and they were everywhere in the state. Gifts for all!
There will be no visitation as Betsy was cremated (at her request). Sometime in the future we may have a celebration at the church but not now, because of the virus!
A private service will be held at this time for immediate family and close friends only.
Please no flowers, instead, if you feel led to do so, donate something to the General Fund at Mendon Methodist Church, P.O. Box 345, Mendon, OH 45862. God Bless You and know that Betsy loved you too.
Arrangements by: W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home Of Mendon.
