How to be a pilot:

Drone operators not flying solely for recreation must have an FAA Remote Pilot Certificate. Local operators receive training in Cincinnati before taking a test.

FAA limits on drones:

• Must not exceed 400 feet above the ground.

• They must not exceed 100 mph.

• Rules require the pilot to maintain a "visual line of sight" at all times.

Remote ID:

A new FAA rule will affect the sheriff's office and pilots of all but the smallest drones. Drones will be required to transmit the drone's location, the location of the pilot and the registration ID of the drone.
