Vernon Silver Jr.
Vernon A. Silver, Jr., 82, of St. Marys, OH died Thursday January 26, 2023 at his residence.
He was born September 7, 1940 in St. Marys, OH to Vernon Alfonzo and Carol H. (Greber) Silver, Sr. On June 27, 1964 in St. Marys, OH he married Christine E. Kohler, who died January 14, 2018.
Survivors include: son Michael Silver of Lima, OH; son Jeffrey (Donna) Silver of St. Marys, OH; daughter Renae (Randy) Kingen of Huntington, WV; daughter Deborah (John) Alday of Harvest, AL; 16 grandchildren 10 great-grandchildren 6 great-great-grandchildren; sister Virginia (James) Hinkle of Tucson, AZ.
Preceded in death by: father Vernon Silver, Sr.; mother mother Carol Vogan; brother Jack Vogan; brother Bruce Vogan; brother Thomas Vogan; sister Anna Diedrich; step-father Adam "Buster" Vogan.
Mr. Silver was a 20-year veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War and beyond. He then worked for the Stolle Corp. and eventually retired from Norcold, Inc., both in Sidney, OH. His favorite pastimes included camping, fishing and watching professional wrestling.
Services are scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday January 31, 2023 at the Miller - Long & Folk Funeral Home 314 W. High Street in St. Marys. Burial, with military funeral honors, will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Visitation 4 - 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home on High Street.
