John Harlett
John "Hondo" Harlett, 64, of St. Marys, OH died unexpectedly Sunday June 18, 2023 at his residence.
He was born July 28, 1958 in St. Marys, OH to Clarence and Marcella (Wissman - Finke) Harlett.
Survivors include: daughter Ashley (Eric) Dean of Troy, OH; son Joshua Harlett of Charlotte, NC; 3 granddaughters: Eva Dean, Elliana Dean, Bellami Dean; sister Linda (Jeff) Duff of Lima, OH; half-brother Richard Finke of Celina, OH; close companion Dawn Berry of St. Marys, OH; nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: parents Clarence and Marcella Harlett; half-brother A. James Finke.
He was a graduate of New Bremen High School (Class of 1976). He worked for Crown Equipment in New Bremen and Celina for 46 years. His favorite pastimes included running, listening to classic rock music from his large collection of vinyl record albums, following OSU Buckeyes and St. Marys Roughriders sports teams. Hondo was fond of animals, and was often seen walking his dogs "Butters" and "Roadie" around town. He was proud of having participated with his daughter Ashley in numerous walks and fundraisers in support of the Alzheimer's Association. More than anything else, he treasured the time spent with his granddaughters.
Rites are scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday June 24, 2023 at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West) in St. Marys. Burial will follow at the German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen.
Visitation 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
