John Fast
John Douglas Fast, 61 formerly of Rockford and resident of Live Oak, Florida died at 9:50 a.m. June 14, 2023, at his home after a lengthy illness.
Doug was born on June 5, 1962, in Celina, Ohio to the late John E. Fast and Ada Ruth (Enyart) Fast.
Doug was a 1980 graduate of Parkway High School, Rockford, and a graduate of ITT Ft Wayne, Indiana. He served in the U.S. Army 1986 - 1995 ODS, Operation Vigilant Warrior 1994. He drove a car hauler for 27 years until his health forced him into retirement.
On December 18, 1999, he married Tammey Hovenga who survives.
Doug is also survived by his mother Ada Fast, Celina. A son Jeremy (Marischa) Fast of Darmstadt, Germany. Three grandchildren, Juna, Aaron and Madita Fast. A sister Twyla (Pete) Hayes of Rockford. Mother-in-law Mary Reed. In-laws Pamela Franzen, Halley Reed and Tonia McCullough and many nephews and nieces.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, John Fast. Grandparents Carson and Loretta Fast, and Sherman and Carrie Enyart.
A private family gathering with be held later.
