Periods of light snow will occur this evening and through the overnight. While accumulating snow is expected to end before Thursday morning, falling temperatures and light snow accumulations of one to two inches will result in slick travel tonight and early Thursday.
Slick spots can be expected on roadways, especially bridges and overpasses. If traveling, allow for some extra time to reach your destination and be prepared for wintery driving conditions.
In addition to the snowfall, falling temperatures combined with increased winds will result in feels-like temperatures near zero Thursday morning. If heading outdoors, dress in multiple layers.

Fred Shawhan
Fred L. Shawhan, Sr., 82, of St. Marys, Ohio died Saturday Jan. 6, 2024 at JTDM Hospital in St. Marys.
He was born November 27, 1941 in Dayton, Ohio, to Earl L. and Dora Beatrice (Andes) Shawhan. On November 27, 1970, he married Rosemary T. Severt, who died May 29, 2010.
Survivors include: son Michael (Tina) Shawhan of Deplhos, Ohio; daughter Karen Shawhan of Butler, Pa.; 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and another due any day; a sister Frances (Dennis) McClelland of Hamilton, Ohio; and loving companion Elizabeth Williams and her children of Delphos, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by parents Earl and Beatrice Shawhan; wife Rosemary Shawhan; infant daughter Barbara Joann Shawhan; son Fred Shawhan, Jr.; brother Harold Shawhan; brother Charles Shawhan; and brother Floyd Shawhan.
He was a graduate of Lemon Monroe High School in Monroe, Ohio. Fred worked as a pipefitter for the union in Lima for many years. He was proud to have made numerous blood donations to the American Red Cross. In his younger years, he served as a volunteer fireman for departments in Hamilton (Liberty Twp.), Lima (Bath Twp.) and Cridersville, Ohio. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and the Rev. James O. Byrne Knights of Columbus Chapter #1592 (fourth degree), both in St. Marys.
Rites are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024 at the Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, 314 W. High Street in St. Marys. Private burial will take place at the Gethsemane Catholic Cemetery in St. Marys.
