Local writer tells the story of Club Island

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP - Club Island resident Shirley Knox marked two accomplishments in August: She published her first book and celebrated her 97th birthday.
Knox began drafting "Club Island History" in the 1970s but had to set it aside for decades. But finishing the book would fulfill a request made years ago by longtime Mercer County historian Joyce Alig. [More]

CELINA - The community had an opportunity Wednesday evening to hear from five candidates running for two open seats on the Celina City Schools Board of Education.
COLDWATER - Once again, Mercer Health received a clean audit for its fiscal year 2025, the health care system's board of governors learned at their regular meeting on Wednesday night.
CELINA - A 21-year-old St. Marys man accused of having sexual contact with a 12-year-old when he was 19 was sentenced to probation in Mercer County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday.

At the close of the 19th and start of the 20th centuries, Mercer County marked the southwestern boundary of what was known as the Lima Oil Field. In other words it was the fringe area of the great oil field which extended northeast beyond Findlay.

The Fort Recovery girls golf team clinched a berth to the Division II district tournament and nearly captured a sectional championship on Wednesday at Stillwater Valley outside Versailles.
  The first half of the 2025 football season has been one where the buses used by the Celina football team have logged some miles up and down the local roads.
  All 10 WBL and MAC games went as expected last week, with the slight exception that a few teams (Fort Recovery, Coldwater and Wapakoneta) won by larger margins than expected.
