Robert Gariety
Robert M. Gariety, 88, of Miller Road, Russia, died at 6:12 p.m. July 4, 2006, at Covington Care Center.
He was born Nov. 11, 1917, in Houston, to Julius R. and Theresa M. Monnin Gariety. On Oct. 9, 1940, he married Mary C. "Marie" Bruening, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Beverly Ann, Piqua; a brother, Adrian, Versailles; a sister, Virginia Drees, Fort Loramie; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Kenneth Robert; two brothers, Norbert and James; and a sister, Thelma Marchal.
He retired from farming, was a Dekalb Seed Corn Dealer for 20 years and worked for Clopay. He obtained a GED in 1990 from Upper Valley Joint Vocational School. He was a past Russia volunteer fireman. He was a member of the St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia; Fourth Degree St. Gaspar Del Bufalo Assembly and a board member of Russia Elevator. He was a past officer, Grand Knight and blood bank chairman for 15 years of the Third Degree Russia Knights of Columbus Council 3890.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Frank Amberger officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-9:45 a.m. Monday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie.
