Local woman turns 107

Mercer County's oldest resident, Alma Stephenson Now, celebrated her 107th birthday on Thursday at The Laurels of Shane Hill Nursing Home in Rockford. She is pictured with her four sons, Charles, 82, left, Marlin, 78, Dick, 83, and Larry, 68. She also has another son, Jerry, and a daughter, Virginia. In August, Ohio's oldest resident, Florence Homan of suburban Cleveland, died at the age of 112. Now was born Alma Elizabeth Bollenbacher in 1899 on a rural farm on Erastus-Durbin Road, Chattanooga. Today, the majority of her family still reside around the Chattanooga area.
