* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

Voters in the Minster and St. Henry school districts approved levies at the polls Tuesday.
Minster, which has been dealing with financial problems for two years, now has an income tax - the first in the school's history - after voters endorsed the 1/2 percent measure by a vote of 1,037 in favor and 856 opposed (55.75 percent to 44.25 percent). [More]

Mercer County Auditor Mark Giesige claimed a narrow victory over Republican challenger David Kaiser in voting Tuesday.
Mercer County Republican Commissioner Jim Zehringer won re-election, easily topping Democratic challenger Jeff Schwieterman. In the Auglaize County commissioner race, Republican Doug Spencer won over Democrat Ted Vorhees. [More]

Voter turnout was heavier than expected in both Mercer and Auglaize counties.
Mercer County Election officials dealt with a technical glitch with some of the county's touch screen voting machines early in the day, but otherwise reported smooth sailing. A first-time statewide requirement for voters to show identification also did not slow down voting, Mercer County Elections Director Denise Fullenkamp said. [More]
