Esther Baltes
Esther Mary Baltes, 88, of Versailles, died at 9:40 a.m. April 26, 2007, at Wayne Hospital, Greenville. Death was due to natural causes.
She was born Sept. 4, 1918, in Darke County, to Peter and Louise Grilliot Mangen. On Nov. 15, 1937, she married Paul Baltes Sr., deceased.
Surviving are five sons, Irvin J. (Kathy), Piqua, Ivan J., Greenville, Carl L. (Phyllis), St. Henry, Ronald, Versailles, and Tom (Deb), Marietta, Ga.; two daughters, Annette M. Hope, Dayton; and Diane M. (Terry) Sellers, Versailles; a brother, Raymond (Madonna) Mangen, Yorkshire; 14 grandchildren; three stepgranchildren; nine great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.
Deceased a son, Paul Jr.; a daughter, Mary Lou; brothers, Leonard and Herman Mangen; and sisters, Mildred Bey and Dorothy Mangen.
She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Frenchtown, and its St. Ann Sodality of the church.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. David Vincent officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, A rosary service will be conducted by the St. Ann Sodality on Sunday at 7:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
