Marvin High
Marvin D. "Dutch" High, 77, of Portland, Ind., died May 21, 2007, at his residence.
He was born June 28, 1929, in Ohio City, to Daniel A. and Reah Bevington High. On March 11, 1951, he married Dorothy Long, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Paul and Tim, both of Portland, and Kevin, Toledo; a daughter, Joyce (Robert) Lake, Portland; two sisters, Betty Amweg, Van Wert, and Pat Lighthill, Celina; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Susan Kay; two brothers and a sister.
He was a livestock buyer for Heinhold, was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict, was active in harness racing as an owner, trainer, breeder and driver and was a member of Jayland Trotting Association, Mercer County Harness Horsemen and the American Legion, Ohio City.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, Portland, the Revs. Richard Secor and Rogers Durham officiating. Burial is 1 p.m. Friday at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
