Thanksgiving - Fort Recovery style
Photo by Shelley Grieshop/The Daily Standard

Nearly 140 first and second graders dine together down the hallway at Fort Recovery Elementary School on Tuesday afternoon. The children took part in the annual school event to celebrate Thanksgiving together and learn about life among the early settlers. The first graders dressed as American Indians and earlier in the week made butter, jelly and biscuits for the feast; the second graders, the pilgrims, cooked up pumpkin pie and applesauce. First-grade teacher Connie VanSkyock serves one of the pies to a hungry group, who eagerly devoured the dessert in minutes.
