Local residents could get shortchanged in a disaster situation if volunteers don't come forward to participate in upcoming training classes.
Mercer County currently has just four trained disaster volunteers, and none of them have taken the required classes with simulated crisis scenarios, according to interim Executive Director Deb Hemmelgarn of the Mercer County chapter of the American Red Cross. [More]

Even after a long day of swimming, it was hard for the Celina girls swim team to sleep on the way home from the State Swimming Championships in Canton.
The five Swimmin' Women that qualified for seven events at the state meet returned home early Sunday morning having given the program its best performance ever, finishing 12th in the Division II meet with 57 points, the most points ever scored by the team at the meet. [More]

Local tax issues to appear on March ballot
Voters will see a replacement levy for Celina city school district on next Tuesday's primary election ballot. This levy is a 0.75 percent, five-year, income tax levy that would generate $2.175 million annually.
