Light snow is expected to develop across the area after midnight, shifting to the southeast through the predawn hours. This band of light snow will affect the region by the Thursday morning commute, eventually pushing south of the area by mid- morning.
Minor snow accumulations of less than an inch are expected, but cold ground conditions will allow for quick accumulation on any untreated surfaces. The main impacts are expected to be reduced visibilities and some slick spots on untreated surfaces.
Motorists should exercise caution. Plan extra time for the Thursday morning commute.

Mock accident as teaching tool

About 1,200 to 1,400 Mercer County junior and senior high school students watched a mock accident at the Mercer County Fairgrounds on Tuesday morning. A sheet is placed over Celina High School junior Jenna Springer after she was extricated from the wreckage of one of the vehicles. The Mercer County Sheriff's office in cooperation with local emergency medical services, fire and law enforcement agencies staged this mock crash for all six county high schools to warn teenagers of the dangers of drinking and driving. Tim Wurster of Celina, who was critically injured in a 1985 accident, also spoke.
