Raymond Meyer
Raymond K. "Jake" Meyer, 89, died at 8:50 a.m. May 25, 2008, at his home at Park Place Community, Bryan.
He was born Dec. 31, 1918, in Huntington, Ind. to John A. and Lena (Schenkel) Meyer. On Dec. 31, 1941, he married Mildred Schindler, who died Nov. 7, 1999.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. DeVon (Ellen), Eaton, and Drs. Rick Meyer (Diane Conrad), Bryan; a daughter Annita Meyer (Larry E.) Woods, Columbus; two sisters, Matilda Leatherman and Maxine Nussbaum, both of Swiss Village, Berne, Ind.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister, Margaret Bietler.
He retired from Colonel Sanders Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurants in Celina, Wapakoneta, and Russells Point, all of which he co-owned with his wife. He also was the former owner of the former Shastar Rent-To-Own in Celina and Portland, Ind., and past president of the Great Lakes Kentucky Fried Chicken, a past member of the Celina Rotary Club and the Bryan Lions Club. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Celina, where a memorial service will be held at a later date.
