Scattered snow showers will become more widespread through this afternoon and then likely linger into this evening before tapering off into tonight.
The snow showers will be capable of causing brief periods of reduced visibilities, especially this afternoon. In addition, brisk conditions will prevail with west winds gusting in the 30 to 40 mph range today.
Light snow accumulations will be possible, mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces. While roads will remain mostly wet during the daytime hours, some slick spots may develop toward sunset and beyond as temperatures drop below freezing.
Please be prepared for the changing weather conditions today and the potential for reduced visibilities when driving.

Robert McElroy
Former Celina resident Robert Eugene "Bob" McElroy, 84, 205 W. Andrews St., Monroe, Ind., died at 4:15 p.m. May 28, 2008, at Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, Ind.
He was born Jan. 7, 1924, in Mercer County, to Ralph E. Sr. and Mary Rupert McElroy. On June 1, 1947, he married Marjorie "Marge" Walser, who survives.
Other survivors are three sons, Ralph W. (Patty), Wapakoneta, Robert E. (Macaria), San Diego, Calif., and George D., Monroe; four daughters, Deborah K., Houston, Texas, Delores A. (Mark) Hart, Portland, Ind., Cynthia J. (Jerry) Morris, Kilmarnock, Va., and Bonnie L. (Steve) Baker, Rockford; a brother, Edgar (Esther), Bedford, Ind.; three sisters, Betty Bowersock, St. Marys, Mary Lou (Melvin) Schumann, Botkins, and Jerrilyn Temple, Celina; 23 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are five brothers, William E., Henry, Leo, Ralph E. Jr. and Walter Lee; and a sister, Patricia Swineford.
He worked as a telephone installer for the Harris-McBurney Co. of Jackson, Mich., retiring in 1986. He attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Middlepoint, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in New Guinea and the Philippines. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Celina. He was a 1943 graduate of Celina High School.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Randall Swanson officiating. Burial is at North Grove Cemetery, Celina.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
