Elmer Poeppelman
Elmer F. Poeppelman, 83, 16211 Schmitmeyer-Baker Road, Anna, died at 7:30 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2008, at his residence.
He was born July 21, 1924, in Fort Loramie, to William and Emma Winner Poeppelman. On Oct. 21, 1950, he married Verona A. Bornhorst, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Bill (Chris) and Ken (Cindy), all of New Bremen, Alan (Jean), Fort Collins, Colo., and Kurt (Sharon), Fort Loramie; four daughters, Lori (Scott) Hallisey, Hickory, N.C., Donna (Doug) Heyne, Celina, Kay (Tim) Schmiesing and Amy (Marc) Larger, all of Minster; three sisters, Mary (Lindy) Hoying, Fort Loramie, Hilda (Doc) Francis, Russia, and Katy Mestemaker, Coldwater; a sister-in-law, Jean Poeppelman, Fort Loramie; 25 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, Norbert, Herb and Ed; a sister, Victoria Eilerman; and two grandchildren.
He was a retired farmer who had also operated a farm drainage, concrete and stump removal business. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and the Rod & Gun Club, both of New Bremen, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1391, Minster. He also was a charter member of Walkup Country Club, Fort Loramie.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Mannebach officiating. Burial will follow at German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Calling is 1-7 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
