Gwendolyn Walters
Former St. Marys resident Gwendolyn Walters, 79, of the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton, died at 4:50 a.m. Oct. 2, 2008, at the home.
She was born Sept. 10, 1929, to Joe and Mae Shimp Wurster. Her first husband, Rolland Kiefer, survives in Wapakoneta. Her second husband, Gene Walters, died in 1990.
Surviving are four children, Sandra (Ron) Miller, Wapakoneta, and Brenda Kelly, David (Jean) Kiefer and Deb (Buddy) Vining, all of St. Marys; four sisters, Pat (Fred) Cook, St. Marys, Delores Bubp, Springfield, Marge (Don) Heppeard, Mendon, and Sue (Larry) Hecht, New Knoxville; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a son-in-law, Terry Kelly and a great-granddaughter.
She worked as a bookkeeper at Brookside Laboratories in New Knoxville. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, St. Marys, where she served as pianist and Sunday school teacher. She was a 1947 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and attended Taylor University.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at the church, the Revs. Tim Smith and Bob Ellis officiating. Burial is at Resthaven Memory Gardens, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.
