Jewels, a Doberman mix, chews on a hoof at the Auglaize County Animal Shelter. The dog is recovering from massive head injuries she received from being beaten with an aluminum baseball bat. The offender, her owner's ex-boyfriend, remains in jail. According to police reports, he beat the animal to get revenge on the dog's owner.
