Charles Hiestand
Charles E. "Ets" Hiestand, 82, New Weston, died at 8:15 p.m. Nov.. 24, 2008, at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Greenville.
He was born April 22, 1926, in Rossburg, to Charles F. and Minnie W. Gates Hiestand. He married Ruth E. Liette, who died July 13, 2008.
Surviving are three sons, Phillip (Sandy), New Weston, Cyril (Deb), Union City, and Timothy, Ansonia; a brother, Nevin, Greenville; two sisters, Bonnie Rutchilling, Rossburg, and Betty Schambach of Nebraska; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Russell and Melvin; and four sisters, Lily Garrison, Rose Amstutz, Aileen Moody and Helen Orr.
He retired from Fram/Allied Signal where he had worked for 17 years. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and Fram Retirees, Greenville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II where he was the recipient of the Purple heart.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, Greenville. Burial with full military honors will follow at Greenville Township Memorial Gardens.
Calling is 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
