Roy Houseworth
Roy Burton Houseworth, 87, of 2125 Deerfield Court, St. Marys, died at 11:20 p.m. Jan. 14, 2009, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born June 10, 1921, in Carrollton, Mo., to Cliffton and Jettie Evans Houseworth. On Oct. 23, 1948, he married Phoebe Leeth, who survives.
Other survivors are six sons, Roy (Donna), Casselberry, Fla., Clifton (Cecelia), St. Marys, Jeffrey (Sheila), Celina, Randolph (Jane), Christopher (Pam), and Kelly (Liz), all of New Bremen; a sister, Freeda Smart, Carrollton; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Paul Houseworth.
He retired from the Village of New Bremen, where he had served as superintendent of the light and water department. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in the European Theatre during WWII. He attended high school in Wakenda, Mo. He was a member of St. Marys Mens' Garden Club and American Legion, St. Marys.
Private family rites are 2 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Frank Casey officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, where American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct military burial rites.
