Lawrence Novean
Lawrence Ervin Novean, 93, formerly of 870 Hillcrest Drive, St. Marys, died at 5:15 p.m. Jan. 16, 2009, at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community.
He was born Jan. 28, 1915, in Rush Lake, Wisc., to Ervin Elmer and Elsie Mary Priest Novean Miller. On Dec. 28, 1939, he married Virginia Floreine Widau, who died Sept. 24, 1999.
Surviving are two children, Larry (Jane) Novean, New Knoxville; and Nancy (Leo) Goodwin, Union City, Tenn.; a sister, Florence Kammerer, West Bend, Wisc.; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, Bernard Miles Novean; and a sister, Dorothy Burghart.
He worked at the Arthur Walter Seed Company, Grand Ridge, Ill. and owned the first Dairy Queen in Troy. He retired from Stamco, Inc., New Bremen. He was a 1934 graduate of Berlin High School, Berlin, Wisc., and a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II.
Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at the Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Very Rev. Dr. David A. Williams officiating. Burial is at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
