The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Viola Shenk
Viola H. Shenk, 98, of 85 S. Lincoln St., Minster, died at 5 p.m. Feb. 18, 2009, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Minster.
She was born July 20, 1910, to Anton and Catherine Schmiesing Meyer. On April 28, 1934, she married Gerald S. Shenk, who died June 2, 1993.
Surviving are two sons, Richard (Ileana), Eacazu, Costa Rica, and James (Shirley), Minster; a son-in-law, Roland (Mary) Bernhold; a sister, Evelyn Schulte; four sisters-in-law, Wilma Schockman, Edna Prenger, Audrey (Paul) Meyer, and Audrey (Wil) Meyer, all of Minster; and a brother-in-law, Eugene Shenk, Pennyann, NY.; and 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Patricia Bernhold; and five brothers, Clarence, Norbert, Arthur, Paul and Wilfred Meyer; and a sister, Adelle Bernard.
She was owner and operator of the former Shenk's Dry Goods and Ready to Wear from 1957 to 1978 and then employed at M.C. Bernhold Insurance, Minster, as a payroll administrator from 1978 until 2008, a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, Minster. She graduated from Minster High School in 1927 and from the Fort Wayne Business College.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Friday and 9-9:30 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
